The registry might seem a bit bare; we limited ourselves to small, readily-transportable items based on the fact that a) the wedding is happening several thousand miles from the city where we each currently live, and b) it is probable we will be moving to some unknown location after Mike graduates in the next year or so.

As an aside, it was inordinately difficult to find a way to link directly to those gift registries.  They must want you to link to hbc.com home page, but why?! The use case for that is “User goes to hbc.com, clicks gift registry link, enters correctly-spelled name, reads through the list of 50 similar names to find the one they want, clicks the name, browses gifts”.  I can email the list to someone… but it doesn’t email a link, it emails the *actual list*.  Weird.  In the end I had to GUESS at the direct URL by guessing what they would name the page based on the other page names.  Hopefully that actually works…

This is the question I receive most often.  Here is the answer.

and I’m already very much busy with planning so I doubt I’ll have too much time to write regardless.

Things that have me excited right now:

1. I have bridesmaids!!! I am uber-pumped about this. For reals. My girls are the best too! Though I should apologize to my lovely ladies now who are going to look like midgets next to their freakishly tall counterparts on the groom’s side… not unlike myself and my betrothed.

2. I have save-the-dates! They are pretty and use my wedding colours very well. Thanks Mike for being awesome!

3. My plans (so far) are coming to fruition quickly. I’m a planner and I am impatient. I need things to go how I want when I want them or else they will be rammed through regardless but I will be far less pleasant about it. We are still finding some venues and the like, but on the whole all is like butter (which is on my mind right now because I won’t be consuming it for SEVEN MONTHS!).

Things I am less excited about:

1. Man do weddings take a lot of time. I will very much miss many of my paydays as I gallavant around North America.

2. Addresses. I have many already because I am a Christmas card junkie, but collecting them is a bitch in general. Seriously. I miss the days when it was the responsibility of an adult to write a sane, legible address on my crayon cards…

The first update is mine: she’s started buying wedding books already.
